Erasure'i laulja Andy Bell teatas, et on HIV positiivne.
Staar teatas, et HIV diagnoositi tal 6 aastat tagasi, pärast seda, kui ta reisil Majorcasse haigeks jäi.
"Sain teada, et olen HIV positiivne, juba 1998. a juunis, kui olin Majorcal haigestunud,"teatas Erasure'i kodulehel 40-aastane laulja.
"See, et oled HIV positiivne, ei tähenda, et sul on AIDS. Minu elu on sama, nagu on teiste inimeste elu, seetõttu pole vaja paanitseda. "
Alates 1998. aastast on mees osalenud teraapias.
"Ma tunnen end hästi - tõtt öeldes pole ma end iial paremini tundnud," teatas ta fännidele.
"HIVi ja AIDSi ümber on ikka veel nii palju hüsteeriat ja ignoreerimist - lähme lihtsalt eluga edasi, näiteks mina teen muusikat, osalen tuuril, veedan üldiselt mõnusalt aega."
Paul Hickey, kes on olnud Belli partner viimased 20 aastat, on kirjutanud laulja olukorrast raamatu, mis peaks ilmuma järgmisel aastal.
Erasure, punt, mis koosneb Bellist ja Vince Clarke'ist, laseb jaanuaris välja uue albumi "Nightbird". Järgmisel aastal toimub ka Euroopa tuur.

kuulasin just eile selle uue plaadi läbi....ja siis proovisin kuulata veel ühe korra....jama on see sõna mis meelde tuleb.
kui keegi väidab, et "loveboat" oli sitt plaat, siis sellisel juhul ei ole mõtet seda ketast plaadimasinasse üldse panna.

Erasure will be given a Lifetime Achievement Award in The Arts, by the Washington D.C. gay organization Capital Pride. The award will be given to Andy Bell and Vince Clarke onstage on June 7 at the 9:30 club. In related band info, Erasure has given a special performance as headliners of the Fashion Cares benefit event in Toronto last Saturday at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with host MAC Viva Glam spokesperson Pamela Anderson. Fashion Cares is an AIDS charity, celebrating its 19th year and donating all proceeds for this event to the AIDS Committee of Toronto. In the meantime gayclubs UK wide have been serviced the DJ promos for the band's newest single "All This Time Still Falling Out Of Love" with very positive feedback.

Erasure frontman Andy Bell has signed a worldwide solo recording deal with Sanctuary Records and not Mute Records to release his solo debut album.
The album will be released on 3rd October 2005, and will be entitled "Electric Blue".
The first single, "Crazy", will be released on September 26th and come on three formats, with club remixes from Erasure partner Vince Clarke, plus Cicada, MHC and King Roc. Also added will be additional non-album tracks and the video, which is being made by the award-winning Al + Al.
The album itself features 14 brand new tracks, including two duets, with Claudia Brucken (of Propaganda and Act) and Jake Shears (of Scissor Sisters), and 'encompasses a variety of musical genres' as the pressrelease reads.
"Electric Blue" was co-written and recorded throughout 2004 and 2005 with Manhattan Clique (Philip Larsen and Chris Smith) who have worked with Erasure, Moby, The B-52's, Stereophonics and Goldfrapp in recent months.
Live dates are being planned as well for a tour taking place in late 2005/early 2006. A series of PA's and DJ gigs around the album release are also in the pipeline.
In related news, Andy Bell and Manhattan Clique have been working on a remix of the new Goldfrapp single "Ooh La La". The mix will include a new vocal by Andy and will be available as part of the single release on August 8th.
