Dave Gahan album gets torrent treatment and leaks all over the web

It seems like there is no stop on leakings from the press of full album releases via several torrent sites despite pressdownloads being protected with audiomarks. This time it's the newest Dave Gahan album "Hourglass" which has been completely leaked and which is being searched for quite a lot. A first look on some search data shows that the number of people which are now looking for the "Hourglass" release on torrent sites is doubling each 2 days with an estimated of around 15.000 searches per day (!) right now on the terms "Hourglass Torrent". Otherwise put, in the next days the Gahan torrent will probably be downloaded more than the album will actually sell in its entire existence. Be sure to read our review of "Hourglass" which got a nice 8 on 10. "Hourglass" will be released on October 22nd, 2007 in Europe and October 23rd, 2007 in the USA.

mis nad siis mökutavad, pangu asi müüki ja läheks nagu soe sai. või - cd.
ja veel. mis näitab järjekordselt vajadust uute turunduskanalite järgi etc..

Dave Gahan gibt Autogrammstunde in Köln

"Dat Hätz vun der Welt jo dat is Kölle" heißt es einem bekannten Kölner Karnevalshit der Höhner. Und für alle Fans von Dave Gahan wird am 30. Oktober tatsächlich das Herz von der Welt in Köln liegen. Dann nämlich ist ihr Liebling für eine Autogrammstunde in der Domstadt.
Im Saturn in der Maybachstraße erfüllt Dave voraussichtlich ab 16 Uhr eine Stunde lang Autogrammwünsche. Wegen des erwartet großen Andrangs und damit kein Fan mit leeren Händen nach Hause gehen muss, wird Dave nur ein Autogramm pro Person unterschreiben.
Danach wird Dave übrigens noch bei Raab reinschauen....

Dave Gahan wird am 23. Oktober einige Songs seines neuen Albums "Hourglass" im Apple Store von Soho, einem Stadtteil im New Yorker Bezirk Manhattan, performen.
Das Konzert soll ausserdem mitgeschnitten und später dann exklusiv bei iTunes verkauft werden.

Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan has played an instore set at New York's Soho Apple store on October 23rd in support of his new album "Hourglass" which is out since this week. The show has been recorded and will be sold exclusively via iTunes in a later stage. The setlist of the very private show (only about 100 people were allowed in) was as follows:

This follow-up sets the bar higher and returns to a DM electro rock sound.
Saw Something is a haunting opener with atmospheric electronic beats.
Kingdom has a sinister, claustrophobic feel, while Deeper And Deeper includes snarling vocals.
Use You is like DM’s Songs From Faith & Devotion with gospel choir and menacing vocals.
As Dave’s confidence increases so does the quality of his songs.

A return from Paper Monsters' grungy guitars to uncompromising electronica works very well, elevating Gahan's morose thoughts into frigid symphonies. His remarkable voice fills in occasional gaps in the songwriting (the most nagging being a lack of hooks that contrasts unfavourably with the chorus-laden tunes of Depeche Mode's Martin Gore) and induces goosebumps, too.

With the mechanical pulses and fizzing undulations of synthesiser that drive tracks such as "Saw Something" and the single "Kingdom", fronted in such loftily mysterious, broodingly romantic manner by Gahan, Hourglass is a Mode LP in all but name. And not a bad one: on the more daring tracks like "Use You" and "Deeper and Deeper", the rhythmic growls and gargling synth figures are about as close to abstract musique concrete sounds as pop is likely to get, while the singer's ruminations on sexuality, age – and possibly drugs, if I read " Use You" correctly – are well meant, if superficial. Religious ponderings are numerous, Gahan's brush with death perhaps having brought him to the brink of philosophy. It gets to us all in time.

'Single Kingdom' - a majestic Gary Numan throwback - sets the tone, and even though Gahan's lyrics stick to well-worn sin and redemption themes, his voice has become a surprisingly varied instrument. This kind of electro-glam was acceptable in the Eighties, and Hourglass proves that it still is.

New Jersey radio station G Rock ran a competition to attend a private Q&A with Dave Gahan on Thursday that ended up being a live performance of songs from "Hourglass" to 12 lucky winners.
Dave Gahan continued the promotion for Hourglass in New York City this week, following up on the CD signing and Apple Store iTunes set. New Jersey radio station G Rock ran a competition to attend a private Q&A with Dave on Thursday. Dave treated the group of just 12 winners to a surprise performance, replicating the setlist from Tuesday night.
There were unconfirmed reports that Dave had an additional intimate Q&A/performance session or sessions planned for Friday, as well.

Kuna plaat pole veel käes ja senised kokkupuuted on seoses erinevate kommentaarilehtede ja nende lugudega, siis ei ole tervikpilti ees. Nii palju, kui kuskil on kommenteeritud, siis on silma jäänud üldiselt postiivsed hoiakud seoses elektroonilisusega. Samas on jälle ette heidetud sarnasust PTA'ga ning üldse DM'ga - kas see plaat midagi uut toob? Tuleb tõdeda, et teatud sarnasusi PTA'ga on, aga võib-olla tähtsustatakse seda veidi üle teadmises, et Gahanil olid sooloplaadi jaoks lood valmis juba PTA ajal. Üldiselt võib heameelt tunda, et Gahan loometööga tegeleb ja seda tegevust naudib. |

You could be forgiven for not getting overly excited by Gahan solo releases but the good news is that 'Kingdom' pretty much carries on from the Gahan/Eigner PTA sessions with outstanding hooks and atmospheric electronics.
After the miss firing blues and acoustic rock of 2003's 'Paper Monsters', Gahan has gone back to the machines that provided the backbone of his PTA tracks. Deep within 'Kingdom', there are elements of Grammy nominated 'Suffer Well' and PTA highlight 'Nothing's Impossible' and if 'Kingdom' had been recorded a few years earlier than it could well have replaced PTA clunker 'Macro'.
'Kingdom' intro is a wall of sound lifted from Alan Wilder's finest moments on 'Black Celebration' before the track slides into a Nine Inch Nails stomper from the 'With Teeth' era and the haunting chorus sees Dave in fine voice.
This is one of the best vocals from Dave since the 'Songs Of Faith And Devotion', and after 20 plays, we know that we'll return to this track many months down the line.
