Depeche Mode ab Februar wieder im Studio
Wie wir aus gut unterrichteten Kreisen erfahren haben, werden Depeche Mode ab Februar 2008 wieder ins Studio gehen, um ein neues Album einzuspielen. Damit scheint auch festzustehen, dass Dave Gahan an die Veröffentlichung seines zweiten Solo-Albums “Hourglass” keine Tour anschließen wird.

New Mode in 2008?

The band are likely to start recording sooner than expected, with a new album possibly out as soon as late next year.

With an upcoming solo record firmly in the bag, and due out in October, Dave Gahan is not resting on his laurels for long it seems. While the decision has not been finalized indications are that Dave might not tour for his "Hourglass" project; instead getting back together with the rest of Depeche Mode and start work on a new album "early next year", sources close to the band reveal.

It is confirmed that Martin has already written a generous helping of songs, and if Dave has some left overs from the writing sessions with Christian Eigner, chances are there's already an album worth of material to start work on.

Depeche Mode's latest collective effort, "Playing The Angel", was begun in early 2005, with the record out and the band touring before that year had passed. If they work as fast this time, we could see a new Mode album and tour being announced around 12 months from now. Sweet, huh?

Speculation that the band desires to once again work with Ben Hillier has yet to be confirmed, but here's hoping!!

See nüüd küll tore uudis. Loodetavasti saab olema üks hea plaat, kuigi see eelpool mainitud Dave-i plaadi "ülejääkide" paigutamine uuele plaadile ei kõla just mitte väga hästi.
See kord võiks väga kriitilise pilguga (kõrvaga) valida ka remiksijaid. PTA oli selle koha pealt ikka üks suur flopp kuigi plaat ise oli hea.

Austria lehel kirjutavad et:

Fletch in guter Laune plaudert mal wieder aus dem Nähkästchen. So sind neben den bekannten Infos wieder neue Details aufgetaucht. 9 Tracks sollen bereits fertig sein, 7 sind mit Vocals 2 Instrumental. Die Songs so Flecht sind eine Verabschiedung von Exciter und PTA, und gehen völlig neue Wege! Auch über die terminlichen Probleme mit Dave Gahans Einzeltour wurde gesprochen und Dave soll sich noch unsicher sein, aber als wahrscheinlich gilt derzeit, daß die Studioarbeiten von Februar 2008 auf März 2008 verschoben werden um die Solotour von Dave nicht zu gefährden.

Andy Fletcher is talking DM

With fan speculation at an all time high, Andy Fletcher, who has maybe fueled some of that speculation in the past, has discussed future plans for a new record and tour for Depeche Mode next year.

Andy Fletcher, always one to be pretty open about Depeche Mode happenings, revealed in a recent interview that they plan to head back into the studio to record another record next year. If things go as he hopes, they will return to the studio in Feb/March and release the record and tour by the end of 2008 or early 2009.

Things are looking good as he reports that Martin Gore has already put together 14 demos, 6 more then he previously reported, and he seems to be very pleased with what he has heard so far. Add to that what Dave Gahan is writing and we should have some exciting times ahead. No other details are known at this time, but we’ll keep you updated as we hear things.

New DM record in Nov?

Promusicae, a retail newsletter/magazine released by the IFPI members in Spain, is reporting that a new album from Depeche Mode will be released on Nov 25th of this year.

This quite clearly a tentative date at best, so don't start holding your breath just yet. But a good sign!

Little bits and pieces are trickling through at a steady pace. The Depeche Mode machinery is getting in gear, and we’ll try to sift through the information, and give you a summary of what’s going on!

As we reported way back in July of last year, Depeche Mode are set to return to the studio in early 2008. Well now we know.

The band met earlier this month, and agreed to hit the studio in March.

Martin’s been writing songs, and has already taken his new compositions into pre-production (ie. not just demos), working with Sie Medway-Smith in Martin’s home studio in Santa Barbara.

Dave has also been writing, although details of his progress are scarce.

EMI in Spain let slip that Mute are hoping to have the album ready at the end of this fiscal year, in time for Christmas. A tentative date of “late November” was circulated to retailers and media in Spain, via the IFPI owned operation Promusicae. Sources close to the band tells us to expect a tour to be announced some time in the early fall of 2008, with tickets going on sale in September or October. A tour would probably not start till early 2009, however.

Pfft, the big news is that they have finally decided to go for the world music approach I suggested for the last two albums, employing a Kongolese drummer, two Peruvian pan flutists, five Scottish bagpipers and a Russian balalaika orchestra as additional musicians.
Peter Gabriel and Youssou N'Dour will do vocals in place of Dave, who will instead play the triangle. Mart has abandoned his guitars for a more suitable sitar. Fletch will provide additional beats to the songs by clapping his hands, although his clapping will be pre-recorded for live performances. However, there are consistent rumors that he will also be playing the digeridoo on one yet-to-be-named track which is said to be inspired by the chorus of Enya's 1988 hit single "Orinoco Flow."

Depeche Mode to start work on new album!

Depeche Mode have finally set a date for when work starts on their forthcoming album, which will hopefully see the light of day in a years time. The band had a meeting just before Easter to make a rough time line and listen to demos. The meeting took place in Santa Barbara, and was also attended by the yet-to-be-announced producer of the album.

Ben Hillier returns to helm another Mode album

According to sources close to the band, Ben Hillier will do a repeat stint as producer for Depeche Mode on their forthcoming album. Hillier, who’s CV includes names like U2, Smashing Pumpkins and more recently The Rascals and The Horrors, also helmed Mode’s most recent full length studio output, “Playing The Angel”.

Depeche Mode return to studio with U2 producer Ben Hillier while Gahan wants to stop old suicide rumours

According to www.depeche-mode.com , Depeche Mode will again work with Ben Hillier as producer on their forthcoming album. Hillier, who has worked with the likes of U2, Smashing Pumpkins and many more was also responsible for the production on the most recent studio output of Depeche Mode, "Playing The Angel". The website also names other involvements such as Sie Medway Smith, who worked as a programmer on Martin Gore’s demos, Christian Eigner, Andrew Phillpott and Kurt Uenala who worked with Dave Gahan on his solo compositions. The new Depeche Mode album should be ready by the end of this year with a scheduled Spring 2009 release. The band had a meeting in Santa Barbara (USA) just before Easter during which they made a rough time line and listened to demos. The first recording sessions are expected to kick off in early May.

In related news, and perhaps not as 'innocent' as it looks at first sight, Billboard announced that Depeche Mode's manager Baron Kessler has joined up with Coldplay manager Dave Holmes to form Good Boy Productions. The first project of Good Boy Productions will be a Canadian festival called Pemberton Festival. Is this the prelude to a more management based approach of releasing the material of both bands?

In the meantime Dave Gahan is again trying to stop the old rumour that his heroin and cocaine drug overdose in 1996 was a suicide attempt. Gahan was pronounced clinically dead after combining the drugs - known as a speedball - in a Los Angeles hotel room. He was revived by paramedics and survived. Gahan, 45, tells Hustler magazine that is was no suicide attempt: "I'm painfully aware that was not what I was trying to do. All I was trying to do was disappear for a while, and that became a lost weekend. (...) What I thought I wanted to do in my life was escape constantly from whatever it was that was going on. That is not the case anymore. I'm here and I really enjoy the challenge of life." It makes us wonder why journalists keep on asking Gahan about his overdose though.
