While magazines worldwide are spreading the rumour that the cult act The Smiths are to reunite for next year's Coachella Festival, Side-Line learned from Johnny Marr's management that a reunion will certainly not take place.

Still according to the (unfounded) rumours, both Morrissey and Johny Marr would have been proposed a financial offer thought to be well in excess of £3 million to perform together. Just rumours so it seems.

Speaking of which, Morrissey has said that he is to write an autobiography to set his story straight for once and for all. According to the former The Smiths frontman "So much crap is written about me, it's hard to live with sometimes (...) it all gets burned down in history and becomes a part of your legacy." Morrissey is still looking for a publisher.

Former Smiths singer Morrissey has signed a (US) deal with Nashville-based record label Lost Highway, a record label owned by Universal Music Group, to release his forthcoming album "Years Of Refusal" in the US on February 17th. The former Smiths frontman will co-release the album on his own Attack label in conjunction with Lost Highway. The album features vocals from The Pretenders' frontwoman Chrissie Hynde on the track "Shame Is The Name". The 12 tracks on the Jerry Finn produced album are:

Morrissey has also announced an extensive US tour in support of "Years Of Refusal", kicking off in February 2009. Ex-Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr from his side countered the recent Smiths reunion rumours spread by the UK press saying: "The stories circulating about a Smiths reunion are as usual untrue. I'm currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next Summer and we're playing shows in February, so going back in time isn't in my plans."

Morrissey described "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" (available as stream from his MySpace player) as being his "cosmopolitan hymn to architecture".

The single will be released on February 9th.

Sparks have announced details of a Morrissey-referencing limited edition vinyl single "Lighten Up, Morrissey" on March 23.

The vinyl version of the single is backed by the new song "Brenda's Always In The Way", while a download comes with "I Can't Believe That You Would Fall For All The Cr@p In This Song", which is taken from their 2008 album "Exotic Creatures Of The Deep".

The Morrissey fan website www.True-to-you.net has announced 'a' track listing for Morrissey's new "Swords" collection to be released on October 26. The 18 track collection includes B-sides from singles featured on his last three studio albums and will be released on CD and double vinyl LP. Early copies of the CD version will include a bonus live disc featuring eight tracks from one of Morrissey's gigs in Warsaw, Poland last year.
